Unit 2.01 Assay Studios
141 Newhall Street
we opened our Birmingham office in 2015 after a period of rapid expansion. we decided to open a second branch in a central England location in order to be closer to our client base in the region. it also means we are in a good position to take advantage for the demand for inner-city projects that are regenerating business areas. Our Birmingham office is in the Assay Studios, a recent conversion of a grade II listed building, steeped in history and located in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. The conversion is sensitive to the buildings original use as the Assay Hallmarking Office and was recently nominated for a RIBA regional award. The interior hosts a juxtaposition of grand Victorian tiling, stairwells and carpentry, with modern industrial branding. Design elements remain sympathetic to the hallmarking history and use of the periodic table to create an eclectic atmosphere of blended styles, contributing to a distinctively cool work environment.

“Nicolas Tye helped give us confidence to pursue our dream project. The design phase was handled by their Bedford office, where the lead architect for our project developed some exciting designs and help us realise our design goals and helped structure plans for delivery within our budget. The lead architect was with us every step of the way, supporting us throughout the design process, listening to our ideas, the tender & contract negotiations.
Delivery of the construction phase of our project was managed by nta’s Birmingham office. The lead architect there managed builder relations through to completion of the works. They were also able to lend their expertise in consulting with other linked projects occurring alongside the main project, such as landscaping, which meant we had a more consistent holistic design approach to make our home right for our family. As a first timer doing such major home improvements, NTA were invaluable in helping us through the experience, made it feel achievable from day one, delivered an exciting space that our friends and family continue to enjoy whenever they come to stay. They bring something exciting to a project, while providing reassurance that they will be there for you to see it through.” Jeremy Smith
